Loyola recognized as top Fulbright-producing institution

麻豆精选 was honored on the list of U.S. colleges and universities that produced the most Fulbright students for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Loyola, which has received this recognition twice before, is among the top 6 Top Producing Institutions for Fulbright U.S. Students in the Master鈥檚 classification. Four Loyola graduates received Fulbright awards in 2023 and traveled to Laos, Peru, the United Kingdom, and Spain鈥檚 Canary Islands. Two Loyola graduates received Fulbright awards in 2022.

The U.S. Department of State, which releases the list of top-producing institutions annually, manages the Fulbright program, the U.S. government鈥檚 flagship international educational exchange program.

鈥淟oyola鈥檚 rigorous academic programs prepare our students for professional service and leadership,鈥 says Terre Ryan, Ph.D., associate professor of writing and director of Loyola鈥檚 National Fellowships Office. 鈥淥ur Fulbrighters are teachers, graduate students, and goodwill ambassadors who are determined to use their Loyola education for the greater good.鈥

The Fulbright program facilitates cultural exchange in more than 140 countries around the world through opportunities to engage in research in a foreign country or teach English and American culture to students. Through engagement in the community, students interact with their hosts on a one-on-one basis in an atmosphere of openness, academic integrity, and intellectual freedom, promoting mutual understanding.

鈥溌槎咕♀檚 designation as a Fulbright Top Producing Institution clearly demonstrates your dedication to promoting global engagement and mutual understanding among the peoples and nations of the world,鈥 U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken wrote in a congratulatory letter to Loyola.

Loyola will be recognized at a reception celebrating top Fulbright-producing institutions on Feb. 20 during the Association of International Education Administrators annual conference in Washington, D.C.
